Finally narrowed down the pictures to four.
I hate having to do that. But here they are.
I actually am planning a post where I give you a more coherent tour and source all the bits and bobs I found for the dollhouse. I did that last year and folks seemed to find it helpful.
Plus I generally like my posts to be more of what I consider readable even if I do go off on tangents and add crazy asides.
Thank you all so much for your support, advice and help. I really couldn't have done this without all of you. You guys are awesome and I can't wait to see how we all do.
yes, it is tedious work to delete, delete and delete until one has the bast two shots! Good thing you don't have snow in your garden ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh yes...tedious and nerve-wracking.
DeleteNope, no snow in Texas...if we get snow or ice its usually January or February.
That first photo is just incredible! Love the angle! It shows off so much of the character of the house! I think you found the perfect backdrop outside for it too. I show that to anyone without telling them it's a miniature and they'd be fooled!! Glad you got it outside :) Honestly one of my favourite dollhouse exteriors I've seen!
ReplyDeleteAnd I think the rest of the photos are just wonderful! I know how hard it is! Like how do you show all the work you've done in just 3 images? Your woodworking really shines through, especially the trim and detailing you did. The stain is just so pretty on the floors, gorgeous with the turquoise elements. I think my favourite part is the lighting, all the different style lamps you put together. They are so detailed and unique. (I really have to go and catch up on your posts about the living room chairs and window bench -too cute!)
Overall I just think you turned that awful kit layout into something fantastic. Moving the bathroom like you did and adding the loft was so smart. Plus I think it looks even better with a higher roof outside :)
Congrats Shelia!!
Thank you! I really couldn't have done it without you.
DeleteI'll admit this wasn't my favorite kit but I think it turned out pretty well.
Hi Sheila, what a great selection of colors for the exterior of the house, it looks absolutely fantastic! I can just confirm everything that Kristine has already said and I love the little resting place you created at the upper window for the cats, it's so cute!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I really debated about those colors and thankfully a satin paint brought out the siding without losing any color.
DeleteThe window bench was a last minute addition and I'm glad I added it because my cats love theirs.
There are so many things I love about your house! That outside shot is terrific. I love the colors! The details, those chairs, the bed, the wood color and I could go on and on. Those pictures are really great because they capture so many of the details, like the hanging wine glasses. Of course I also loved your New Orleans house and I thought that should have won one of the top spots although at least you did win. Anyway Best of Luck!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm hoping I rate an Honorable Mention this year if I don't do any better. I made almost everything in the house so I'm hoping that counts towards creativity.
DeleteSuch a wonderful creation! Lovely colors and detail. I have enjoyed seeing it come about; thanks for sharing your work, Sheila.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I got a lot of inspiration from all the great bloggers who I follow and give great advice and feedback. Couldn't have done it without all of you.
DeleteHi Sheila!
ReplyDeleteThe photos are just great. You can imagination that it´s a real house outside in the landscape. Very well done. I wish you best luck in the competition.
Britt
Thank you! I'm hoping that's the impression folks get when they see the picture. Thankfully my front yard is still sort of green.
DeleteI forgot to ask you when they announce the winner?
ReplyDeleteBritt
Mid February. So we all have to suffer the suspense for a couple of months.
DeleteOk I´m waiting
ReplyDeleteBritt
Thanks! I'm excited!
DeleteWonderful dollhouse! :)
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
Thank you! Merry Christmas!
DeleteCongrats Sheila!! It turned out BEAUTIFUL! Everything inside is seamless, it looks move in ready. I particularly love the wall of storage and sofa.
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh, because my real lifeconcern is always about a bathroom trip at night. I think I would be holding it! lol. Or keeping an ambulance on speed dial.
And your grass turned out perfectly. It looks spot on in your photo!
Thank you! I'm thinking our homeowner is fairly young and navigates the ladder easily. I'd have the same sort of trouble. Maybe a safety harness for going up and down?
DeleteI'm so glad the grass looks good. I think it helps that my real life lawn is pretty awful.
OH MY GOSH THIS IS TOO FUNNY KAT. Sooo true!
DeleteWell, it seems that my comment won't add more to all of the above comments ;). Your dollhouse looks wonderful in all its detail, and it looks so cozy. The color scheme is well chosen, the grass looks well if you look at the picture, which is taken outdoors. Great work, Sheila!
ReplyDeleteI also had the same question about when they announce the winner, but I've seen your answer already.
Good luck, Sheila!
Ilona
Thank you so much. I'm really excited and nervous about it too.
DeleteHi Sheila. Finally we are here! And I have to say the result is WONDERFUL!! What a beautiful house you have put together. I love it!! The facade is gorgeous with those colours and the photo is terrific! The interior is as good or even more. I love all the details, your little touches here and there, the colour scheme, the creativity in the layout and in so many pieces, and I could go on and on. This house is great and I hope you get the credit you deserve for it. Good luck!! But my favourite part was to be able to follow your progress. Thank you for sharing this project with us. I have had a terrific time. Thank you. Can´t wait for that tour!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I think the tour will be up in a day or so. Still checking that I sourced everything.
DeleteIt means a lot to me that you like to follow the progress just as much as the end result.
They have said it all and you deserve all the praise. The house looks fantastic, inside out. I loved following your work!
ReplyDeleteBig hugs,
Drora
Thank you! I'm really glad all of you like it.
DeleteNow to find a space for it so I can work on another project. LOL
Well done!!! What a perfect and cozy retreat. Your details are wonderful! Best of luck! :D
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm hoping it does well.
DeleteLooks great Sheila! Good luck! Not long to wait now although it will feel like ages for you!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Not long, only a couple months and if you place they tend to let you know a little bit in advance, even if you aren't allowed to tell anyone.
DeleteNow I'm curious about the next kit and wondering if I want to do one again or concentrate on my other projects.
Oh Sheila! I love the photos you chose! You have managed to get all of the incredible detail into them! The exterior shot alone is enough to recruit a whole new class of miniature enthusiasts into our community! Just beautiful, excellent work, and a true triumph over many challenges! Big hug and good luck in the contest!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I actually took a bunch more outside because it was such good light.
DeleteIt was chilly though, and there was a breeze so some of those branches are last minute 'mother nature' additions.
*cheers* Yay, you finished it! That exterior shot is wonderful as are all the interior ones but I think my favourite is the last one. However the one upstairs with the cute kitties runs a close second. :D I'm looking forward to your larger post on this build. I must know all the details! :D Congratulations and good luck!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Should be up late tonight or early tomorrow. I've got one more link to hunt down.
DeleteBloggess tribe member here... my 11yo & I both thought that was your house at first. Beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I really appreciate that. I worked really hard to make it look realistic.
