Suzi's Gift Arrived!

Forgive me if I'm a little incoherent.  I'm currently enjoying some Pumpkin Spice Bailey's on ice and recuperating from wounds taken in the line of duty.

Today we were supposed to take Cap'n Jack Sparrow to the vet.  You'll notice that I say supposed to.

I believe I've mentioned that Jack is large.  Right?

He was so cute and little.

He's a bit bigger now.  See? (This picture is from when we had to cat shame him.)

Cap'n Jack weighs in at about twenty pounds.  He didn't seem to mind the vet or the soft carry cage last year.  This year is another story.  We put the soft carry cage out yesterday so he could get used to seeing it.  His sister promptly went inside and went to sleep.  We thought that was a good sign because he loves her and it would smell like her.

It didn't work out like that.

When it came time to put Jack in the cage he tore through the house trying to evade us (not as hard as it sounds), body slammed my husband (who swears his arm will never be the same) and hid under the couch.  We had closed doors and when he met one he jumped up to try to get it open.  I attempted to catch him and got my arms torn up for my trouble.

At that point we called it.

The good news is we definitely got our exercise today.  The vet is going to have a prescription for pills to relax him before we make another attempt.

But the mail came.

And Suzi's package was in it.

I'm so excited.

She sent the sweetest note.

I love the rug.  I think I want to use it in my Downtown Loft because the blues are gorgeous and I want to do most of that build in shades of blue.  The little pops of red with soft green.

The little cards will be perfect for tiling small areas.  Especially the checkerboard.  The boards in brown and teal are beautiful so maybe with some modgepodge to seal them I could use them as table tops or a bathroom vanity top.

The little printables are so cool.  Some I want to frame for art pieces and the notebook paper will be cool for a desk!  And that little basket purse is seriously adorable.

I love the blue of the pitcher.  And the little stool its on, I might try to make a tapestry cushion for its top to use in the Wicked Queen's Retirement Cottage.  I love the little green bowl set and the dog dish.  I need to make sure I put them somewhere safe with the pleated vase because I have a habit of misplacing ceramics for some reason.

And the pictures are awesome.  I want to keep them for a future build because they'll be perfect on the wall of a little old lady's house.

I'm really thrilled and can't thank Suzi enough.

Oh, one more thing, I moved the Craftsman Cottage to its new place.  Thus far Tali has jumped up to investigate it once that I've seen.  And I'm sure, multiple times when I'm not around.

Now it lives on top of the Gothic Victorian.

I'm going to enjoy another drink now and then plot and plant some more about the Wicked Queen's Retirement Cottage.

  1. Lots of lovely presents Sheila! I think receiving things you haven’t picked yourself can be really inspiring, and help you to see things in different ways or come up with some new ideas. And better luck next time with your naughty cat!!

    1. I was so excited to get the package. And luckily I was home to sign for it.

Jack isn't bad. He was really freaked out but he's not really a bad cat.

  2. Your cat in the carry-all was amusing to me, remember a similar experience I once had with mine :D

  3. Such beautiful gifts! The little portraits are wonderful, and the rug and basket are as well, but all the presents are nice!
Oh, your cat story brings back memories lol! I once ended up taking antibiotics for an infected scratch that made my finger twice as thick, all due to my cat being afraid to go into her carrying basket. She was like a wild animal!
But she's actually the sweetest cat I've ever owned :-).
Capt'n Jack looks very sweet too :-). The pills will help to calm him down.

    1. I was so excited to get them. I love all of them.

I learned early in cat stewardship to immediately clean my scratches out or they would get infected. Cat scratch fever is a real thing.

He's a sweetie. He's adorable and loving. But he was terrified.

  4. Poor Jack! And poor mom & dad! A rough day for all!

I Love, Love mail, especially when they are miniatures! That was so thoughtful of Susi and there are so many treasures there! I am sure you'll put them all to great use!

I hope the next attempt to get Jack to the vet is a completely different experience for all of you! :O)

    1. It was an interesting day that's for sure. We laugh about it now.

Oh yes, I love when minis come in the mail and I'm excited to find places for all of them.

We can hope. The medication should help but we still have to get the pill down his throat which won't be easy.

  5. What a great gift, I am sure you will make the best use of it, totally deserved :)
I hope cap´n Jack is calm now and you can get him to the vet. Mine don´t give me such hard time but then they don´t stop crying in their carriers all the way to the vet. It breaks my heart but it´s necessary, poor little things, they scare easily. Have a nice week!

    1. I know! Suzi's awesome right? I can't wait to see her tattoo parlor.

Cap'n Jack is much calmer. It's funny, you don't realize how strong a cat can be until you try to get them somewhere they don't want to go.

  6. Oh Sheila! I'm sorry, but I really had to laugh about your cat story, getting a cat in the carry-all can be very difficult ;)!
The miniature gifts from Susi are so lovely, it's so nice to get things from blog friends and especially to see what you can do with them, enjoy all of it.
Hope everything is calmed down at your house by now ;).
    Have a nice Sunday!
    Greetings, Ilona

    1. Thanks! I honestly wouldn't have blogged about it if I wasn't intending to make all of you laugh. It's funny. 20lb cat kicks the butt of the humans.

I was really excited to get the mail. Can't wait to start mini-ing again.

Hope your Sunday is calm and quiet.

    1. Thanks. Jack is usually enough to make us smile, but when you add us in, stumbling around and getting body slammed by a cat it turns out to be pretty hilarious.

    1. Oh he's an absolute doll and I adore him. He is also, however, a coward about going to the vet.

You're not alone though, everyone at my husbands workplace and mine found the entire story hilarious.

Thank you again for the minis. I'm so excited about them. They definitely salvaged the day for me.
