Desk Chair?

Hello everybody!

I'll tell you it is such a relief to have the internet back.  I've been playing with a few things for the house and that's been fun.  But I've got a little dilemma.

I made four of the chairs for the dining room.  I'm only using two of them near the table and I'm really not sure about having extras hanging around.  Keep the front room from looking cluttered.

I'm using one for the desk chair, but I'm not sure if I like it.

I still want the house to have that feel of a new home owner who's been shopping garage sales and thrift stores and matching chairs don't give me that feeling.

I have a House of Miniatures kit for a corner chair.

So I thought of using that for the desk chair, and finishing it in cherry with a black seat.  But I'm not sure if that's a good idea or not.

What do you folks think?

Husband is printing the paintings for me for the front room walls and I'm planning on working on framing tomorrow.  Then it's just hanging them and I'll be nearly done.

I'd love some opinions about the chairs though.  Help!

  1. sheila, use one of the dining room chairs - it is more realistic. these cornered chairs are a pain to sit in - let alone working at a desk...
but you might use this as an ornamental chair in a corner with a little table somewhere else?
don't do black, the wood is already pretty dark. I advise to use beige or so to have a good contrast and really show off the wood.
    I hope this helps ...

    1. I don't have a lot of room for another chair anywhere. The house will end up looking cramped. But I agree that a black cushion wouldn't look quite right.

  2. In my experience miniature desks never have a keyhole wide enough for a chair. I liked the picture you posted of the chair sitting to the right of the desk and not directly in front of it. Too me it's not about which chair, but where it is.

    1. LOL both you and my husband have been cursing autocorrect today. He was a lot more profane about it.

But you're right. No chair fits under the desk and won't unless I change the desk out. Which I'm not gonna do at this point.

  4. I'm bucking the trend. I say go with the corner chair. Could you construct it (cos at some point I assume that's what you're going to do anyway) and try it out?

    1. I really like the corner chair and how it looks, but I don't know if it'll fit in the corner next to the desk. I might open up the kit just to see it's footprint but I don't want to assemble it unless I'm sure I'll use it.
